Diana Taurasi Breaks Own Record Against Serbia

Diana Taurasi opened up her Rio Olympics campaign in a stellar fashion, tying her own Team USA record of most three-pointers scored in a single Olympic game.

However, it didn't take long for Taurasi to break the record, not just tie it again.

Taurasi broke the record on Wednesday against Serbia. Taurasi, who led the team in points (25) and assists (6) against Serbia, now owns the record again, but with six three-pointers in a single Olympic game.

Taurasi said after the game that breaking her own record wouldn't have been possible without her teammates finding her on the court.

“When you do get going and you got everyone kind of helping you, it makes things a little bit easier,” Taurasi said. “There are still things we have to get better at. When you play against a team like Serbia, the European champions, they make you work. They make you look ugly sometimes. But overall we did a pretty job of keeping our composure and doing the things we want to do.”

Adding more to the historic day, the whole USA Women's Basketball Team made history by becoming the first women's basketball team to break the century mark (scoring over 100 points) in three straight games. The USA routed Senegal in their first game 121-56, crushed Spain 103-63, and defeated Serbia 110-84.

Taurasi, who plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, and Team USA will face Team Canada on Friday, Aug. 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET. Team USA is currently the only undefeated team still in the Group B table.
